Instead of studying for an exam, I’ll write a small story about my SAS.. featuring guest blogger: my voice.
Compared to my previous SAS posts, this one is quite laid back. For those of you who follow my blog but don’t know A LOT about me.. I am currently a Junior Vocal Performance Major at Capital University in Bexley, Ohio.
A lot of what I have to do schoolwork-wise revolves around music theory, audiation, piano, music history and (wait for it…) performing. Most of my performances are in a musical theatre setting (on stage) but, I do perform on recitals and jazz gigs.
This Saturday, I performed on a Studio Recital put on by my vocal teacher, Elise DesChamps. It showcased all of her current and former voice students. She has been my vocal teacher since I was a Sophomore in High School.
Here is me practicing for the Recital in the basement of Capital’s Conservatory. I should have the real video to show you guys soon. The song is “Summertime.” Do you… like my moves 😉 ?
And here is a group photo: the awkward chick in all black on the very end right side is me. 😉
And this is a backstage selfie..
As for the whole “feature on my voice”… you can check out a few videos of me singing on my YouTube account… I have a lot of me singing jazzy tunes because my good friend, Mark Potter, and his son, Chase, are very technologically savvy and record everything that I sing with them. 😉
Here are a couple of videos from my own account and Mark Potter’s:
“Cry Me a River”
“I Got Rhythm”
and “The Water is Wide”
More videos can be found on YouTube on my channel
Coolcool! Thanks for reading all of that… I know it’s a bit different than most Saturdays.
Hope you enjoyed my post. And.. how was your SAS? 😉
Much love, Jor
